Breath is the center and source of inspiration. It is simple and complicated at the same time. We breath around 17,000 per day. Yes, it’s a lot! Considering how high that number is, it’s interesting to me that we don’t really know about it.
Simply put, breathing is a process of inhale and exhale. It’s so automatic that I feel like we almost take it for granted. But when we go deep, our breath can peel open so many layers.
In yoga, conscious breathing is a crucial factor as it allows us to connect with the different levels of consciousness and channel the subtle energy within. This is why the connection to the breath is an essential part of my teachings.
“In our uniquely human capacity of connect movement with breath and spiritual meaning, yoga is born.” Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa
If you’ve been here for quite a little while (thank you!), you might noticed how many times I emphasise the importance of breath in our lives, on and off the mat. At the same time, I’d like to bring up the fact that due to our trauma or habit, our breathing can become constricted in a way. Our emotional, mental and physical state can affect our breathing but so does the other way around.
When we channel our breath, it can bring such an enormous energy transformation and metamorphosis for us, emotionally, mentally and physically.
A simple breathing exercise can bring us to become more attuned to our breath. We will become more aware between the relationship between our breath and how it affects us physically and emotionally. Once it’s a part of your practice, there’s an opportunity to harness more energy from it and you can feel the difference when you move on the mat.
Today I’m going to share 3 delicious breath-centered practices that are going to build that deep connection with your breathing.
