Dear beautiful movers,

Staying motivated can be hard. There I’ve said it.

I think this is something we can all agree with. Especially when it comes to working out and moving – no matter how long you’ve had your routine for, sometimes your body just groans in protest, as if to say… “Really? Do I have to do this today?”

One of the ways I manage those incredibly lazy days is cuddle with my beautiful dogs because they never fail to lift my spirits, throw on some music I can’t help but move to, put on comfy breathable clothes that feel like I'm wearing nothing at all, and just get going.

Why is it important to stick to my routine?

I’d like to share with you this TED Talk that I found by William Pullen. A London based psychotherapist, author, and founder of Dynamic Running Therapy who approaches mental health through a combination of movement, mindfulness and talk therapy.

“However stuck you feel, if you just put one foot in front of the other, things will change, things will get better.” – William Pullen

William talks about how running changed his life – physically and emotionally. How he found it easier to talk with his running buddy during their session, and how the sense of achievement he felt from running was the beginnings of hope during his darkest days.

That really resonated with me. Small wins often feel like massive victories when you’re not at your best. So, sticking to my routine has been very important during these strange times.

Movement has also been one way I’ve expressed myself, and I’ve noticed that what I wear affects the way I move. And I know it’s not just me. Clothes are a massive confidence booster – it doesn’t have to be ‘on trend’ or ‘fashionable’, it just has to fit us deliciously for what we want to do.

It’s one of the reasons Isabelle Moon has been really important for me. I don’t want the average yoga workout clothes. I wanted soft organic fabrics that hugged me and breathe just so. Flirty and fun design that could support the dynamic movements I wanted to do. I wanted to feel feminine and fabulous even when I was drenched in sweat, with a messy head of hair after a really good session.

I wanted Isabelle Moon to keep me motivated and help me express myself through movement.

But what about you dear souls? How do you stay motivated to keep moving?

Finding motivation to keep moving,

Meghan Currie
